Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Very solid freeze over the last few days keeping a mostly firm snowpack throughout this area today.  Slightly warming temps above freezing into the midday with clear skies but with the east winds not many slopes warmed up enough to soften for good riding conditions.  Below 9000' there were some areas of good corn snow that warmed up nicely, it needed that perfect timing, protected terrain and sun angle to make it happen.  Many of the solar aspects have lost much of there snow, making for patchy ski descents.  More shaded aspects were mostly firm and crusty with very little soft snow in protected areas.  Not enough warming today for any wet snow instabilities on the solar aspects.

Photo#2:  South aspects, 8700' in 3rd Creek Drainage.

Photo#3:  8500', east aspect on Incline Lake Peak.  Very thin coverage on solar aspects.

Cold overnight temps with a very solid freeze over the last few days.  Warming trend thoughout the day but the east winds kept a cool feeling into the afternoon.  Clear skies, east winds were mostly light with some moderate gusts on the ridges and peaks.
