Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Widespread skier triggered whumphing and cracking occurred on northerly aspect below treeline slopes in this area. Over 20 whumphs were triggered on the sub 30 degree slopes we choose to travel today. The well developed Dec 7 facet layer near the base of the snowpack was confirmed in snowpit tests as the collapsing weak layer. Cohesiveness and slab properties of the overlying recent storm snow are continuing to increase. There are no indications that instability evident in the regional snowpack will decrease anytime soon.
