Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Faceted snow crystals in this area were not as well developed as those observed in other portions of the forecast area. It was very difficult to see at 10x magnification, but a small degree of rounding may have occurred on these striated facets. Snowpit tests indicated that propagation along the top of the prominent facet layer (marked in photo) is possible but currently unlikely until additional new snow loading occurs.

General snow cover in this area is very sparse below 7,500', increasing to 12-16 inches above 7,800'-8,000'. Many obstacles remain just under the snow surface.

Rising snow levels last night/early this morning appeared to have topped out at about 7,400' in this area.
