Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

No evidence of instability observed with a notable lack of significant faceted weak layers in this area. The basal facet layer recorded in the snowpit was not particularly weak and it is well anchored. A very strong temperature gradient was observed in the upper portion of the snowpack with no visible faceting. If this strong gradient persists, near surface faceting will likely occur.

Soft, cold unconsolidated snow surface conditions observed on all N and NE aspects traveled. Numerous exposed and shallow buried rocks and boulders exist in this area but were easier to navigate around than anticipated. HS generally 50 to 75 cm with consistent upper end depths observed above 8,200'.
