Continued signs of a wind slab problem in this area on NW aspects in near to above treeline areas that have received recent wind slab formation from NE winds. Hard wind slabs sit on top of recent storm snow which is on top of a problematic layer of older near surface facets. This is similar to what was observed nearby on Basin Peak on Dec 5. The wind slab is a very supportable hard slab that could allow a traveler to venture fairly far out onto the slab and/or have several travelers pass over it prior to snowpack failure or avalanche occurrence.
