Loose dry instability on Pole Creek Rd Cut

Plans to get to more valuable field site shut down by Hwy closures. Minimal observations attempting to find storm slab problem obtained from road cut at the very bottom of Pole Creek Rd, E aspect, 42 degree slope, 6,040' elevation. Very easily intentionally skier triggered a loose dry avalanche (D1) from the top of the slope, failing in the top few cm of the storm snow and then entraining approx the top 30 cm (1 ft) of storm snow.

Total snow (HS) 115 cm (3.77 ft) with storm total (HST) of 80 cm (2.6 ft) since March 13. Bottom 35 cm (1.1 ft) of the snowpack was rain saturated wet grains from heavy rain at the onset of the storm on March 13. Storm snow above that was right side up. No indications of a storm slab in this low elevation, wind protected location.
