Snowpit from Thunder Mountain

Observations from near, but outside of Kirkwood:

Very little surface hoar on the surface observed today - surface form primarily small facets and some melt forms with thin crusts forming. Evidence of previous wind transport (pics 1 and 2) but only very thin wind slab observed, and in isolated places. Cracks didn't propagate far.

Profile: Surprised to find older SH layer buried here. Visually much easier to identify than the 12/4 layer, but not as reactive to tests. Shovel tilts on both layers were clean (Q1), but still not much slab development on top of either layer.
