Silver Peak Observations

The 12/4 buried surface hoar layer was found in several locations in this area today.  It is not reactive at this point, with no cohesive slab above it.  It is relatively preserved and not showing the decomposing that has been seen in other areas.  Evidence of blowing snow throughout this area with raised tracks and hard wind slabs in wind exposed near and above treeline areas.  Near surface faceting continues to provide good snow quality in protected below treeline terrain.  Very small hard wind slabs showed minor cracking but no instability with informal observations.
