Shallow snow on Cascade side of Tallac

We were hoping the NW aspect of Tallac above Cascade Creek would hold some good snow sheltered from the wind, but getting there proved difficult due to shallow low elevation snow, water ice, and talus fields not yet filled-in. Thankfully, the rain crust was very supportable and allowed for travel on skis over even just a few inches of snow. Similar facet/crust combo observed here as in other areas, though the rain crust was quite strong, and the snowpack below the crust was mostly faceted to the ground.

Pic 1: Lots of rocks and ice made travel on foot more appropriate than skis until well above Cascade Falls. 

Pic 2: Cold E/NE winds, but minimal evidence of current transport today. This picture shows previous erosion from a few different wind directions.

Pic 3: Talus field near our high point close to 7400ft, and no end in sight so we turned around. Some fun turns in between rocks and manzanitas, but this area needs lots more snow for safe travel.
