Tamarack Peak

Observed 2 natural avalanches, side by side, on the East Ridge of Tamarack Peak. Elevation aprox 9400', right below the ridge, NE aspect. Well defined crown and flanks indicated it was likely somewhat recent. On the way down 3 hours later crown was less obvious and seemed to be more filled in with an inch or two of snow from wind transport and snow.fall  3-8 ft. cornices above the avalanche path and periodic blowing snow over the ridge all day. 

Elsewhere in the terrain 6-10" of unconsolidated, fist hard, snow existed above a thin rain crust. Just below ridgelines on leeward (N-SE) slopes in several areas throughout the area a soft 4-6" wind slab existed. Skiing on test slopes produced minor cracking in isolated areas and one 5 x 5 wind slab to slide a few feet.

Light snow (S-1) with periodic heavier snowshowers (S2) throughout the afternoon with moderate SW winds on observed ridges 9000'- 9600'.  Periodic blowing snow observed in same location thoughout the afternoon.
