Observations from Hidden Peak

Wet surface snow conditions at 6,600' with increasingly drier snow surface conditions up to 9,000'. Isolated thin melt freeze surface crust noted on E aspect terrain up to highpoint of travel at 9,000'. Minor skier triggered roller ball activity was observed below 8,200' on NE aspect terrain.  Warming conditions throughout the day with light rain falling at trailhead at 2pm.

Snowpit data at noted lat/long (ENE aspect, 8,880') targeting the March 13 melt-freeze crust with graupel layer showed no signs of instability on this layer interface at this location. This is a distinct difference from recent unstable test results on this layer in the Mount Rose area.
