Obs from Munchkins

Went for a mid-morning tour to ID some wind slabs and look at snow structure in munchkins area now that public has access from Alpine Meadows. 

Overall decent coverage and minamal signs of instability.  Even with warm air temps over last 24 hours, Near surface facets holding up well above 7500 on north aspects. If you can find em skiing is still quite good. 

Snowpit data @ 7800ft , NE aspect showed little signs of instability. Right side up in structure , 25 cm of Fist/4F NSF on top of 12/12 rain crust. Followed by 1F/P rounds and crusts to ground. (Sorry for words , snow pilot not working for me).

Also found some 1F/P hard wind slabs near ridge line above avi gully / field of dreams. These hard slabs were 10-20cm thick and very stubborn. With Multiple hand pits I did find F/4F facets underneath these slabs. Regardless of the lack of sensitivity to trigger , the possibility is still there if the right amount of load or terrain feature is present.
