Wind Loading Near Mt. Reba

Went for a quick tour across from Bear Valley Resort today to asses conditions. Dug a pit on a 28-32 degree, W facing slope. Elevation 7560ft. Foot penetration of 50cm. Snow profile was as follows: Fist pen to 40cm, 4 finger pen 40-50cm, finger pen to bottom of pit at 200cm with crusted bands (knife pen hard) at 85cm and 105cm. Followed this up with a column test which had to following results: CT 3 at 10cm, CT 8 at 16cm (resistant planar fracture), CT 18 at 40cm, and CT 25 at 55cm (resistant planar). None of these layers would propagate during the ECT test. The first three fractures were clearly windslab formed over the past two days and will continue to form as by the afternoon winds were gusting 40mph. Skiing was extremely variable depending on sun and wind exposure of the slope.
