King's Realm Snow Observations

Quick tour out of the Bear Valley Resort side country today. Overall good conditions and fun skiing. Dug one pit to see how the pack was doing after the wind loading. Snow profile as follows: 0-15cm fist pen, 15-45cm 4 finger pen, 45-55cm 1 finger pen, 55-65cm pencil pen (This was clearly a very solid rain crust from previous events, poor bonding to layer below), 65-145cm 1 finger pen.  Did one column test and found CT 14 at 15cm (wind slab, resistant planar) and CT 26 at 60cm (resistant planar, this was the rain crust poorly bonded to lighter snow below). Overall it skied well, though we stayed in the deeper trees to avoid the wind crust and found great snow.
