Poulsen's Peak tour

On our tour up Poulsen's today we saw 65cm of new snow sitting on top of Thursday's rain crust at the trailhead. Observed little to no wind on the S & SW aspects. Multiple hand shears provided easy results (column separating upon isolation) in the top 20cm of the snow pack. Snowfall was heavy at times as cells moved through our zone up to ~3in/hr. Later in the afternoon around 2pm, we started to see graupel up to 2cm in the new snow. We found a steep convex rollover below treeline and ski cut this slope which produced a D1 storm slab avalanche with propogation and a crown from 20cm-65cm at it's peak. This test slope was stubborn to trigger and slow to get noving. All in all an excellent day of powder skiing.
