NE aspects loading with wind transport

Conducted a long 7 mile tour today and dropped almost 5000 feet which gave us a good tour of the snowpack as well. The intense winds today have transported a lot of snow. In places, especially NE aspects, the transported snow has formed a cohesive soft slab. This slab sits on a bed surface 4 to 6" " and then again, 10" to 16" down that has very little cohesion with the new wind slab. This layer did have evidence of grappel in it. In doing a hasty pit both bed surfaces released before I finished my 2nd cut. Very very easy on a 30 degree slope. The winds have been so eratic that this condition existed in on different aspects at different elevations although once down toward 7000 feet things were more stable as there was less wind. The possibility of larger more destructive slides once this new heavier snow comes is worth noting. Beware. The weak layer will be buried under several feet of snow.
