Jake's Peak

Toured Jake's from about 9-12. Wind transport was evident starting from about the bench half way and the summit ridge had lots of transport from the West into the bowl. Top was very scoured and thin (1 inch) windslab was observed below the ridge. No propagation of cracks was seen. Pit was from the gps point shown on a somewhat open ne aspect on the bench, protected from sw winds. ECTX. Density gradient was pretty much exactly what you want all the way to the rain crust 3-4 ft down. The layer dug out in the pit is the softer snow above the frozen rain crust. By noon, snow at the bottom was wet through several inches and there were all sorts of crusts on the descent from wind scouring to sun crusts and dense, setup snow from tree shedding.
