Deep facets at Blue Lakes

About 6" of new snow on top of dense upside down snow from previous storm. No informal signs of instability today, and we hit test slopes very hard. Some natural cornice fall observed at Polaris Bowl that did not trigger an avalanche. 

Pic: 2-stroke facet finder was an efficient snowpack observation tool today. Facets never found less than 75cm from the surface. Good conditions and easy riding today until tracks penetrated the supportable layer and dropped into the softer snow underneath, and then into the facets. Yet still no cracking or informal signs of instability around these trenches.
