Snow pit on Relay Peak

We did 2 extended column tests on the south east shoulder of Relay Peak. We saw a wind layer break and propagate fairly easily, ECTP14 and ECTP15 15cm down. The slab was not very strong and fractured under the shovel, but it still broke cleanly across the isolated column. In lower/slightly more sheltered aspects wind effect was minimal. Strong winds were felt along the ridge line. Further east along the ridge, several hard kicks on some cornices caused a block the size of a refrigerator to collapse. This cornice collapse did not cause any failures on the slope below.
