Warm temperatures and wet surface snow in Mt Rose Backcountry

above freezing temperatures and evidence of strong winds from a variety of directions over the last few days led to abnormal snow conditions. Small windslabs existed mid slope on terrain features that are “typically” sheltered and some normal start zones were stripped of all loose snow.  We observed multiple small natural loose wet slides on southern aspects. One skier triggered loose wet WL-as-r1-d1. Overall good consistent cold skiing could still be found below tree line in wind protected areas.
