Blizzard conditions, widespread instabilities and great skiing on Proletariat Ridge

As to be expected, blizzard conditions exsisted in the Mt. Rose/ Tamarack area today. Average amount of new snow ranged from 25-30cm when we started hiking, and precip rates of >1" an hour throughout the day. Wind were strong along ridgelines and rapid windslab development was observed.  We stuck to relatively low angle terrain, we were able to find multiple windloaded test slopes that were all reactive and easily triggered. Storm slab activity was not observed on our tour, but when isolating pockets of storm snow, easy failures were present.

We performed a handful of column tests to target underlying weaknesses in the snow pack, our tests revealed consistent moderate results on the new/old interface.  These failures had a "Break" characteristic with rough shear quailty.  Video was cut short, but the failure was classified as: CTM 25cm down BRK Q2 on now buried surface facets.
