Ect south Jakes

Toured around the south side of Jake’s. Calm in the morning with increasing winds as the day progressed, the wind direction and speed varied greatly throughout the day, with periods of moderate snow in the afternoon. The only signs of instability observed were on the summit ridge line, where either a cornice naturally collapsed, or was kicked by a backcountry traveler and appeared to have trigged an r 2  avalanche. The crown was approximately 8-10” deep max, while the slide was about 50’ wide, and ran several hundred feet down hill into some trees.  No trees appeared to have been damaged. Unfortunately, when we passed this area, it was one of the windier times of the day, and thus no one was motivated to take their phone out for photos.
