Variable Conditions Pre Storm on Tamarack Peak

Mostly sunny conditions in the Mt. Rose area this morning with increasing clouds and strong SW winds by midday.  Snow surface conditions consist of a range of crusts, many in the breakable crust category.  Some of these crusts softened by late morning in areas with direct sun exposure and wind protection.  This provided some soft, almost corn type snow conditions.  The majority of other areas provided variable travel conditions.
