More near surface facets - Stoney Ridge

We toured up Stoney Ridge today to look for buried surface hoar and for general snowpack mapping and monitoring. We found the buried surface hoar (SH) size 6-8mm buried below a small surface wind slab near treeline. Buried SH 1-3 inches below the surface appears to exit along the Sierra Crest from at least Pole Creek down to the West Shore and possibly further north or south. In some locations the buried SH is spotty. In some locations it is more continuous.

Otherwise we saw reasonably well developed near surface facets on wind protected northerly aspects below treeline. This is similar to what has been observed in other similar terrain around most other parts of the forecast area.
