Morning cloud cover slowing snow surface melt on Silver Peak.

As forecast, a thick band of high level cloud cover approached from the north and covered the sky over Silver Peak from about 9am to 10:30am. The thick cloud band moved off to the south after 10:30am with full sun conditions by 11am. This period of cloud cover slowed snow surface melt on E-SE aspects by about 30 to 45 min as compared to the past two days. Descending from the summit ridge at noon we had a 1/2 to 1 inch of corn over very supportable melt-freeze crust on SE aspects. No signs of wet snow instability prior to or during our descent.
