Soft snow and sensitive wind slab on Waterhouse

Sought out sub 30 degree terrain today at Waterhouse Peak. Found sensitive cornices and obvious wind slab in the summit area. Below treeline in wind protected areas around two feet of fresh snow was present. Pushing my pole grip to push down through the new snow, I could feel that the fresh snow was sitting on a mix of soft old snow and firm surfaces. I avoided terrain over 30 degrees on my descent and didn't notice any instabilities associated with the Storm Slab problem. I skied by the edge of the steeper bowl on Powderhouse and looked for signs of natural activity and didn't see any but my view was limited by trees.

Photo 2: Compact car size cornice that broke easily from behind the small tree. This cornice wraps around the tree it is resting on. 

Photo 3: Another easily broken cornice. I am not certain, but I think when this large fridge sized chunk hit the low angle slope below there was a whumpf. I didn't hear any whumpfs other than this potential one during my tour.
