Observations from Stevens Peak

Toured up the Stevens Peak drainage this afternoon. Avoided traversing under the steep north facing slopes. Did two sets of Extended Columns Tests and got ECTN moderate results on the crust/facet layer. The facets were impressive under the 1/4 rain crust. South and east facing aspects had a melt freeze crust, but more shaded northerly aspects still held soft wintry snow.

My tour didn't take me to above treeline terrain where the wind slab problem might be present.
