Tamarack snowpit

We observed the remains of a lot of small (D1) natural avalanches on all aspects during our drive up and approach around 8 am, mostly point releases under trees and rocks.

During our hike up we saw a lot of surface hoar, but no shooting cracks or other flags.

A compression test yielded some partial failures in the new snow before the final CT20 Q3 result at 73cm. The Jan 4 rain crust was 140cm deep and failed with Q2 when levered from behind after our test.

We skied the low angle east ridges of Tamarack with no sluffing or other instabilities observed.
