Donner Summit

we toured in the mt judah/donner peak area from late morning to mid-late afternoon. 

we found largely stable conditions with bright sunshine and warm temps. 

there was a bit of hoar formation on protected N facing slopes overnight, and plenty of signs of ongoing settlement of the recent storm snow. 

we saw a number of small, skier triggered pocket slabs. from a distance they appeared to have happened yesterday afternoon or early this morning. they were isolated in steeper areas and seemed consistent with ongoing stabilization of recent storm snow.  there were lots skiers and riders everywhere and skiing everything and we did not see any other signs of instability.

ski penetration was approx four to six inches in most areas while skinning while boot penetration remained waist plus deep.

reletively warm air temps and mid march sun was quickly affecting all but the northern most aspects.

later in the afternoon we saw some roller balls below some rocks at lower elevation.
