Low density snow at Elephant's Hump

10-12" of cold, low density new snow observed at Elephant's Hump today. No evidence of storm slabs observed - the new snow was very "right side up" and didn't display any slab characteristics in wind sheltered areas. Some graupel mixed in with new snow at the new/old interface, but hand shears, shovel tilts, and test slopes did not indicate instability near the graupel. Cloudy with snow flurries, though the occasional sun through breaks in cloud cover did have subtle warming effects on the snow surface. There were a few small hybrid wet/dry sluffs visible along Frog Lake Ridge.

Pic 1: A shovel tilt showing this morning's cold, lightweight snow at the top, and a planar failure just under the new/old interface. This was on old snow under a very light crust that was observed everywhere I looked - on NW, N, NE, E aspects. 

Pic 2: Light to Moderate W/NW winds were observed to be moving snow, and plenty was available for transport. Early stages of wind slabs were observed in isolated areas - due to the wind direction, Elephant's Hump wasn't the best place for looking at them, but I stopped to kick in several places and got consistent cracking (that didn't travel far due to limited slab development).
