Powderhouse

Toured up Powderhouse today, with the crowd (everyone was practicing social distancing), and skied down the north glades. There was 45-50cm of fresh light powder that made for great skiing (see picture 1). Ski pen was 45cm and boot pen was 85cm.

I dug a pit (9,350’ on a NW aspect with a slope angle of 30 degrees) to see how the storm snow was bonding with the old snow with the following results:

The snowpack is relatively uniform with a distinct layer at about 45-50cm down (see picture 2) and a CT(x2) resulted in CTM(13) Break at this layer.

A little deeper, 95cm down, the CT(x2) resulted  in CTM(15) SP (see photo 3). I conducted an ECT targeting this layer with a result of ECTN(15).
