Persistent Slab Avalanche Past Silver Peak

We toured west of Silver Peak aiming for an open micro-cirque, that terminates in a wide chute heading back into the granite chief/shirley creek drainage of Squaw (I'm sure this has a name, someone help me out).  We encountered two other groups over the course of the morning and skied into the pole creek drainage to earn a few powder turns en route to our objective.  As we ascended the ridge, we noticed blowing snow and cornice formation.  We discussed that we would not ski the wind loaded slope, but instead, would continue to cut across the slope and assess the steepness and exposure of the chute that lay below the micro-cirque.  No instability was felt while crossing the slope, and we agreed that the sunny, consolidated snow, which was also below 30 degrees appeared safe to ski.  The first member of our group skied the agreed upon route with no ill effects.  The second member of our group, proceeded to ski the wind loaded slope.  I felt this was a bad decision, however, as the only woman in the group, I did not speak up, something I deeply regret.  However, the second skier, successfully navigated the wind loaded slope with no ill effects.  I was third to go, and I skied the lowest angle of all three skiers.  Before I approached the choke, I noticed moving snow and yelled AVALANCHE, skiing to the left above the choke as a very large amount of snow swept the chute.  I kept yelling avalanche as I was concerned that my ski partners might be close to the mouth of the chute.  The slide, which ran 150-200 feet wide with a 3 foot crown was remotely triggered on the lowest angle of the entire slope.  Considering there was still a pocket of hang fire, I put back on my skins and reascended and descended our skin track.

On the way out there, we did assess the risks, and noticed some small slabs that other skiers had kicked off on north facing aspects into Pole Creek.  We also noticed blowing snow as we moved towards our objective.  Something we discussed, in depth, but we felt that there was a safe way to ski the slope that would avoid setting off a potentially large wind slab (we did not discuss the possibility of a persistent slab).  I felt, perhaps, most uncomfortable with the terrain choice, but as the only woman in the group, I also felt uncomfortable speaking up.  Next time, I will be more vocal.
