Decent Refreeze and Corn Snow on Mt. Houghton

Last night's refreeze was better than previous nights. The snow surface remained firm in the shade and on northerly aspects through mid-morning. Sun exposed aspects (E-SE) softened early but they remained ski supportable until ~ 11 am. At 10 am about 1-3 inches of soft wet snow existed on these aspects above the supportable melt-freeze crust.  By 11 am the snow was wet and sticky in any of the areas that were soft. We also noticed significant melting in this area over the last 5 days. Areas of exposed dirt and rocks, as well as marshes and open creeks, have melted out even at the upper elevations.
