Cornice Collapse

The snow was heavily wind-packed and wind effected widespread in the area.  There was very little consistency in snow depth, one area would have 40cm, the next scoured to dirt, followed by a pencil hard wind-drift 80cm.  The Cornices and wind loaded ridges had 60-120cm. 

The Cornice that collapsed was unmeasurable, I have 320cm probe and was 15 feet from the end when I lost touch with ground. I would say this wind-drift where the cornice collapsed was 10-15ft deep, possibly more.  

Calm weather, few clounds in the sky, sunny and above freezing.

Widespread wind-board in this area. The only concerning thing we saw was the cornice. We rode a line simliar aspect and elevation and saw nothing worrisome. We heard no whumphs, saw no cracks, no signs of naturals, and didnt have any results in our quick pits.
