Large Surface Hoar Crystals at Incline Lake

We went for a tour up to Incline Peak this morning. Very large surface hoar crystals were seen in the flat meadowy area that used to be Incline Lake; the picture isn't of great quality, but the crystal sizes were similar to what was observed yesterday in the Castle Peak area. By the time we were coming back around 11:15, strong sun seemed to have at least partially knocked down the surface hoar that had formed. The skin track we followed had already been well packed down, but no noticable weak layers were noticed when poking ski poles around, and no other signs of instability were noticed. No notable surface hoar was seen in the north facing trees off of Incline. For only about 60-70 cm of snow, the snow skied well and was supportable. Obstacles like rocks and branches were, for the most part, noticable and easy to avoid if sking cautiously. The chutes off the northeast-facing shoulder of Incline will need to fill in quite a bit more before they can be safely skied.
