Good Refreeze in the Mt. Rose area

A good refreeze of the snow surface occurred overnight in the Mt. Rose area with firm melt freeze crusts this morning.  These crusts softened throughout the morning hours and provided 2-3'' of corn snow on top of supportable snow conditions at 11am on Mt. Houghton.  Corn snow was found from the summit down throughout these SE aspects.  On the ski out down into the trees were a mix of firm crusts and soft snow.  Melt freeze crusts are developing on some lower angle N aspects in this area, but many areas still have winter type snow or transitional snow above 9000'.  Snow coverage continues to be good in this area with skiable snow from the trailhead.
