Snowpit Fountain Place

Roads in town were gridlocked all day so we dicided to just stay local and anventure with the snomo's. We snowmobiled up through the Caldor Fire burn zone on Fountain Place road and rode the slope just below where the Armstrong Connector trail is. We stayed away from the forecasted aspects to avoid and played in the lower angle trees. The snow was showing signs of settlement in the multitude of remaining burnt tree tree-wells. We felt somewhat safe in regards to coverage in this area because majority of deadfall had been burnt during the fire. Smaller boulders in that area were still sneakily below the surface.

Snow profile showed multiple layers of greyish snow and there was even some chunks of ash that had been buried in the pack. The snow was very supportive which suggests that it is beginning to settle. My Column Test did indicate some layers of instabilty. See pit profile pic.
