Bloods Ridge Obs

Touring from Bear Valley up Bloods Ridge temperatures were rising until around 1PM.  Winds then began to increase slightly out of the SW and cloud cover increased.  Temperatures began dropping and winds were steadily increasing in strength after 2PM.  No signs of obvious instability were observed on this tour, however yesterday near Poison Canyon a past avalanche had occured on a NW facing slope that was steeper than 30 deg.  It looked like it had occured during the most recent storm and showed signs of reloading.  The slide was at a distance, so unable to determine how deep it was for sure.  This test slope was similar in aspect and elevation (just East of the Poison Canyon area).  Snow is settling well for the most part, but there are obvious signs of wind loading, and plenty of snow still available for transport so pockets of densely packed snow may exist in areas and with surface hoar being observed on N, E, W aspects it may be deposited on top of this weak layer if it hasn't been destroyed.  The only areas surface hoar wasn't observed was on due South facing aspects, and some isolated areas of the ridge top.
