Small storm slab failure on Castle Peak Lots of wind too

Toured on Castle Peak early this morning. The upper summit pitch on Castle had pervasive wind effect near the ridges and on most N-SW terrain on the upper 200 feet of the mountain. We observed small cracking around the skin track near the summit but these did not extend beyond the 2-3 feet long. After 1 lap our skin track was almost completely refilled with blowing snow. Judging by the strength of the wind we could have found much more unstable windslabs on more wind-exposed slopes, but we avoided those and skied the NW trees. Near the bottom of the NW tree run we ski cut a small steep ~55 degree test slope close to Round Valley. This slope failed with a 14-inch crown. Upon further inspection, we saw that this failed on a thin crust at the new old snow interface. We lapped the E side of Andesite on the way out and by 9:45 non-shaded snow was starting to get manky and form proto-rollerballs.
