Avalanche Meiss Ridge

We toured out to Meiss Ridge today looking to observe signs of wind and storm slabs. Saw lots of windloading on N-NE-E aspects, winds coming from SW. Snow was falling over the course of the day, ranging from light to heavy at times. Cloud cover varied, with pockets of blue sky and periods of very low visibility near the ridgetops with blowing snow and moderate snowfall. Observed approximately 30-45 cm of new snow. We did not see any signs of storm slab formation in our travels through informal testing. 

From the gully below Meiss Ridge we observed three slides below cornice formation on the ridgetop. One slide was R1 D1, the other two had wider slide paths and were R2 D1. Two slides had evidence of crown formation at the top of the ridge, leading us to believe these were wind slabs. Slope angle at the crown was likely 40-45 degrees (dropped the pin where the crown was observed). One of these occured at 1:30pm, and the other occured sometime between 1:30 and 3:30 but was not directly observed. The other slide could have been either a loose dry or wind slab, however we were too far away to know for sure.
