Stanford Rock

We toured up the east - northeast ridge from Timberline. There was no evidence of wind effects - or any wind today - until the last 40 feet before the summit. The ridge had mostly unconsolidated new snow.

At the top, there was wind and evidence of past wind in the form of exposed rocks and cornice formation on the northeast aspect (see photo).

We descended from the ridge down about 40 feet from the summit on a northeast aspect. The snow there, as well as the snow farther down the ridge descending in a northerly direction, was new and unconsolidated snow about 8-12 in deep. Farther down on the ridge itself, in the early afternoon, there was some light crust formation in the sun.
