T-shirt weather on Tallac

Climbed above the inversion on Tallac and brought way too many clothes. It was warm up there. Wearing boots and leaving the skis at home, I ascended from the south and there was signficant amounts of water running from melting snow. South facing slopes below 8000 feet were clear of snow. Above 8000 feet nearly flat terrain had a mix of shallow snow cover, bushed, and rocks. Shady aspects held noticeably more snow than sun exposed slopes. I peaked down most of the normal descents and most had marginal coverage up high that got worse before reaching tree line. 

Photo 1: Looking south at the north facing slopes of South Bowl on Tallac. The south facing slopes to the left of this shot are bare rocks and there are a signficant amount of bare rocks in this ramp. 

Photo 2: Looking west from near the Tallac summit at the Crystal Range. The snow cover on the Crystals appeared more peppery and thin as it dropped below roughly 8400 feet.  

Photo 3: Looking down North Bowl on Tallac. Surface conditions were very firm crust. 

Snowpit: I was suprprised at how shallow the snow was in the are where I dug my pit. I probed around and only found about a 5 cm variation in snow depth in this area. I suspect a more NE aspect would have more snow. The ice at the base of the pit was beyond what I could penetrate without destroying my shovel. Normal boot steps produced no boot penetration and repeated kicking was required to create a step.
