Windy on Tamarack

I toured up Tamarack Peak today with Rocky (my dog). It was blowing pretty hard at the trailhead and the wind seemed to whip around from all different directions while we were touring.

There were 6 - 20cm of new snow, with some areas of deeper deposits (and some cleaned down to the crust).  I dug a hasty pit at 9500' on a north facing slope and found 20cm of new snow on top of another 20cm down to the hard crust. The crust was about 8 cm thick and below it the snow was getting rotten and faceted.  Everything seemed to have bonded pretty well, however.  Up higher there were some hard wind slabs and I was able to break off a slab, but it didn't propagate.  I skied on low angle slopes and was quite pleased with the way it skied.
