NE wind scouring and little to no new wind slab development on Castle Peak.

We toured the NW side of Castle Peak, the Castle/Basin Ridge, and some low angle slopes on the NE side of Castle Peak today. We saw a few old avalanche crowns from during the last storm cycle as anticipated. We triggered no collapses on the Dec 1 PWL or Dec 8 SH layers.

As expected the NE winds were persistent today in the moderate speed range. There was decent wind scouring on the N-NE-E aspect terrain that we traveled in near treeline and above treeline areas. Light amounts of snow were observed transporting over the ridgetops, but little to no problematic new wind slab development was observed in the areas that we traveled.

Thin sun crust formation is becoming more widespread in areas of direct sun exposure across SE-S-SW aspects.
