Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

I toured up to Becker Peak to see what the coverage was like and to look at the details within the snow pack in this area. Along the way skies were mostly clear with a few clouds to South with no wind or transporting snow at all throughout my tour. At the beginning of the trailhead I stopped to get a baseline of snow depth and snow pack @ 7400' on SE aspect. There was about 95cms with a clear rain crust from Dec.3 and the Dec.1st layer was also present but was not as weak and was wet and compressible. Also at the start of the trailhead I noticed surface hoar growth and I continued to see it all the way up the ridge line to Becker Peak on all aspects. Once I got up to Becker peak I found a nice spot near 8000' and dug another pit on a N aspect and found similar results within this pit. Also, in this pit I performed an ECT and had no results at all. While cleaning up my pit walls I noticed some small point releases occurring from the rocks on the summit next to me, this was the only sign of instability on my tour. Over all the coverage in this area was better than I thought but I could still see some rocks and stumps buried just under surface bulging out in areas.
