Continued unstable pit results

Dug a pit on the upper portion of the Monument Peak drainage, outside the Heavenly boundaries. HS was 110 cm, comprised of 66 cm of storm snow, over 44 cm of basal facets. The facets were surprisingly undeveloped given the cold temperatures of the past several evenings. An ECT again showed propagation on this layer, illustrating the potential for catastrophic avalanches with this current snowpack structure. The surface, however, had some very impressively developed facets, up to 2 mm in size, with grooving and striations. Surface hoar was also noted in several locations, although most, if not all, had been destroyed by the afternoon.
