Observation
Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

Cold and mostly sunny day today with less wind than expected. There were a few moments of moderate NE winds, but we did not see evidence of wind transport in this area (driving home at the end of the day, I did see NE wind transport from a distance on Little Round Top). New snow amounts varied from 6 inches to 1.5 feet. We intentionally looked for an area where new snow was relatively deep and the recently buried facets were weak, and several ECTs across this low angle slope did indicate propagation was likely. We found just the right combination for this on an open but wind sheltered slope facing due north (pin drop).

Pic: Not much wind transport on Red Lake Peak during our several hour tour.

Video: We intentionally hunted for this.
