Tamarack snow conditions

Our group did multiple quick pits and two formal pits from the parking lot to the summit of Tamarack.  We found widespread firm surfaces, ranging in hardness from 1F- K.  We pounded our shovels, trying to get something to move, with almost no results. CT30 Q2 @ 37 down from surface. ECTN 27 @ 37 down. 

The new snow amounts ranged from 1cm- 10cm (4 inches) in the deepest drifts. 75% or greater of terrain appeared scoured. Wind Drifted alley ways were few and far between, and contained variable surfaces, breakable windboard, firm scratch, the occasional 2 inch fresh turn. We decided to boot pack to our finally descent, instead of skin. We observed no signs of surface melt with daytime warming. Fun skiing when you find it. Specifically targeting terrain gets tricky beacuse of the swirling winds.
