Variable conditions on Tamarack

Calm winds and clear skies made for a pleasant day in the Tamarack and Fireplug area today.  No signs of instability were noted on our tour.  East winds overnight led to some scouring of recent snow from ridgetops but we did not observe any signs of new wind slab formation.  We encountered the expected mix of wind textured surfaces, with sastrugi, reverse tracks, and firm (P hard) wind packed snow making for sometimes challenging travel conditions.  North and NE aspects held cold wind transported snow and good skiing could be found in sheltered areas.  Slick frozen surfaces could be found on East-south aspects.
