Description of Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Conditions:

We toured out towards Frog Lake and Elephants Back to look at the coverage and snow conditions. The weather early in the day had scattered clouds that disappeared throughout the afternoon. The temperature was above freezing and there was no wind to speak of. There was clearly a passing weather event overnight that left a trace amount of graupel on the surface. The coverage in this area is diminishing pretty quickly as more and more rocks are becoming exposed. The snow conditions varied of wet surface snow, soft faceted areas and wind effected snow. The wind effected snow on the ridgeline from Frogs Lake towards Elephants Back had areas of sastrugi and solid smooth chalky surfaces. On the descent we decided to keep it mellow and skied low angle terrain were snow was soft and supportable. There was no signs of instability along our tour.
